Qns: Which was the most important factor that you have considered when deciding on how to structure your information in the proposal?

Ans:
There are many important factors that actually need to
be considered when deciding on how to structure the
information in the proposal. But the most important
factor I think is in deciding on how to structure your
proposal is targeted audience.

Target audience is the most important as we need to
understand who are our target audience so that we will
be able to cater to the target audience. We can give our
targeted audience exactly what they need without the
need to go round the bush.

The proposal is important that we know who are our
audience so that when reader read, they can read in
ease. Our reader can grasp the idea of the proposal
easily. Therefore when deciding on how to structure my
proposal, it is definitely our targeted audience.

I wasn't really paying attention today due to some
issues that I am still trying to cope. I wanted to say
many things from my mind, but every time I wanted to
say, there is always a voice that tells me that I
shouldn't say. I am still fighting with this problem,
but seem like today is worse due to a fight that have
happened last week. You may ask my mentor, Ms Joan about
this issue. Don't wish to talk more. I am still trying
not to dwell in it too long. =)





Qns: Share a personal experience of miscommunication due to plagiarism, stereotyping, fabrication or disclosure. How did you deal with it then and how would you deal with it after today’s lesson? Would you deal with it in a different way? Why?

Ans:
Ok, I am not too sure how I am going to put into words. But I am so going to try. Ok. I will be bringing my real life story in. I am not sure how you are going to grade this, but I am just going to try.

According to the dictionary, fabrication is to lie, or to weave a story. I am not sure if is fabrication because I think that it is solely miscommunication. I am really... if I cry after writing this RJ, this is so going to be your fault... haha...

During one point of time, during my sec 3 year, I hated myself for saying the wrong things all the time. I really hated myself. The thoughts of killing myself was there because I said the wrong things. At that point of time, I really do not know how to pause, stop and think. I am really bad at that and I am definitely still learning.

During my sec 3 camp, I really regretted going for the camp. I thought that I could start to making friends whom I are my classmates. Oh, I have to tell you that I do not have any good relationship with any of my classmates. They are all new friends to me, as we split up to different classes because of the subjects that we choose. I am not that good with making friends, it usually takes me a long time before I succeed in making friends. (I do not think that I need to have the whole class to like me, just 1 or two). But at that point of time even going for the camp was a challenge to me, because... I don’t have a single friend.

I told myself I am going to try my best to make at least one friend in camp. But things turns for the worst because.... I said something wrong, which at that point of time I thought it was fine. I called one of her friend, dog. This is because I thought since the whole class is calling this person dog, I thought it is okay for me to call him dog. But.... I was wrong.

I was scolded on her blog, as a Martian... I can’t believe it. I thought everything was going to be alright but, things just headed downhill. This person managed to gang the whole class to hate me. At that point of time I really hated myself. I can’t believe, seriously can’t believe. I really do not know what to say or do. I really want to give up. I have tried pleasing my friends but nothing seem to work. None! I give up pleasing them, I revoked their every comments because I really have no idea what I should do.

I would never forget that my mom is my best counsel, she ask me to stop, an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth. I did something unexpected.

Ok. That is the end of my part. She replied that she removed the picture of my family and she is still not telling me why she called me Martian. The whole class seem to be okay with that, and I was happy to be a loner. I was no longer the centre of attention, which is totally fine with me. But if I was to apply what I have learnt into my situation, I would have learn to pause, stop and think before making such a misunderstanding.





Qns: After going through today’s lesson, what concerns do you have about expressing your thoughts in public and how will you address these concerns?

Ans:
I think that when one has to express their thoughts in public, I need to know how other people might feels and how people might think. The media often read in between the words that we say, therefore it is more important that we learn how to speak with the media.

I won’t do any quoting or anything but I will just give my own experience that I have personally gained through AYG 2009. I am given the role to take care of the media and all their queries. It may sound absurd since I am actually a SHL student, DOAL course student, why do I need to handle media queries and not something else? That you would have to ask back the AYG 2009 committee members.

I would say that handling of the media isn’t my cup of tea. But I have to do my given role, so I tried. Using what I have learnt in your lesson, I was able to successfully do my job. Often the media would ask questions that may be very simple to very difficult. For example, they often would ask about the result and ask if they could speak to certain players and many others. We must be alert at all time so that we could reply with precision and taking down the queries in details so as to allow them to be able to get the right information to the public. I have exercise carefulness as I almost fall into a trap that one of the journalists has set.

Therefore it is important to exercise on how one express their thoughts in public and how to address these concern to the media.
The moment your words are interpreted wrongly, anything could happen. They could fault you for giving the wrong info, or they could insist that you said so during the interview or whatsoever and thus bringing trouble into your life. Even though I do not write any report or anything that is related to letter writing but I believe that when I have learn to handle media well, I believe that when penning down thoughts it would be greatly helped.

Hi Ruth, thanks for sharing your thoughts and interesting experience. It is good that you were able to apply what you had learnt in class to the real life and be able to see the relevance of those lessons. Coming back to this, I hope you now fully undertood the merit to pause and think first before responding, and not reacting.

As mentioned before, you have become a passive and quiet student in class over the last few lessons. This was in contrast to the earlier lessons where you were able to participate in class more actively. Just like this week again, the only instances you spoke and share your views were during meeting 2. Other than that, you spoke during your own team presentation. You seemed to be able to participate quite actively in the team, so you should be able to participate more actively in the class discussions, like what you had done in the earlier lessons. Furthermore, for this lesson, you could have spoken up more to share your experience dealing with the media for AYG.

Qns: Do you think SMS and IM have helped or hindered the way you communicate with your classmates?

Ans:
I think SMS and IM have both helped and hindered.

Helped - in some sense that we are bale to communicate things faster to each other. We are able to understand each other's different way of messaging. We are also able to send things such as files and sharing of photo over easily.

Hindered - This is due to the fact that we uses too much of short form. By using short form, we might not be able to get the right meaning. For example, LOL means Laugh out Loud but for some people it may mean Lamer of Lamest. This will result in different response. We might not be able to practice our expressing of words. This is because using of SMS and IM, we do not need to take note of our expression and our action.

Therefore it does hinders the way I communicate with my classmates as I might use the wrong terms or words to communicate with them.

Qns: In preparing for your presentations every day, aside from presenting an appropriate solution, what do you pay most attention to? Why is it important to you, and how do you go about it?

Ans:
The way I deliver my speech/my idea across to my fellow classmates/audience. If I am unable to make things clear to myself in the first place, I would really doubt if my fellow classmates would understand what I am trying to put across.

Therefore I feel that it is important for myself to understand the parts that I am covering, and of course, to understand the overall solution that my team have come out with.

When I have understand completely what I have written, I feel that I am confident to tell people of my idea that I want to share with them. Especially during Q A, I feel that when I have grasp the knowledge well, I will be able to handle the question in a calm and peaceful manner. This is one way I feel that it is rather important. If it is not, I feel that I will be mumbling rather than speaking out loud.

Therefore it is important for me to understand the overall situation and to grasp the solution to the problem statement at the tip of my finger.





Qns: How does information graphics impact your everyday life?

Ans:
It allow people to understand and clarify things easily. Without information graphic we might misinterpret many things and therefore resulting that things may not be done the way that is expected. It is important to have information graphic as we need to be clear especially when time is limited it is best that we have information grahpic to help us to understand things that need to be done in a short time.





Qns: Look back at your previous RJs. Have you managed to structure them well? What did you do today to make it better?

Ans:
Yes and No. Some of my RJ, I have put it in chronological order, but most of the time, I do not do it in chronological order or any structure order because, I want to complete my RJ in the hurry.

There is no time to complete my RJ all the time as my family always go out for dinner or so. Thus there is no time to even think carefully or arrange my RJ to be structured. Most of the time, I would complete my RJ last minute, only I do not have to go out everyday for dinner, I would complete my RJ on time.

I learn that there are more than chronological order. There are other orders that we can follow. I am still trying to study the other orders so that I may be able to use other orders in my RJ.





Qns: Which was the most important factor that you have considered while selecting the topic for today’s presentation? Why?

Ans:
I think the most important will be to inform the people.

I felt that people need to be informed rather than to be persuading. I think it is important for the presentation to have more information for the audience to understand. When the audience understand with the information, they will be able have the change of attitude. If we just feed them/brain wash them, this will cause the audience to only have temporary effect. What I feel that when one do a presentation, we need to leave an impression and long lasting impact when they leave the presentation.

I think the persuading is secondary rather than primarily. This is because, when people have the idea and understanding, all they need is a bit of persuading as their mind will be battling if they want to follow about things that we say or still do things their ways. By persuading and apply the call for action, we will help them make the right decision and the battle in the mind will not go on.

I hope this what the question is trying to ask, as through my own understanding, it seems to be this way. I also hope that today my group's presentation have not freak you out. I was trying to act/illustrate what was going to happen if there is really going to be a talk. Well, from today presentation I hope that I have not appeared that my wings are clipped as you mentioned before. =)





Qns: Based on your personal self-introduction this morning, what impression do you think your classmates have of you? Did you create this impression on purpose?

Ans:
Let’s start off with my speech. I was having a sore throat therefore it was hard for me to speak loudly. So I tried my best to speak so as that everyone could hear me even though I sounded like a frog croaking.

Impression to me can depend on two factor, one is the content and two is my tone/pitch of my voice. For today, I did not intend to have much content in my speech this is because I am not ready to share more about me. Sharing about me being a cheerleader, is something that I am not proud of but I think it is important for my class to know in case my secondary school friends come by and call me cheerleader, then my class mates might be confused and I have to do my explanation again.

I felt that I have given my class an impression of hostile yet friendly and introvert towards what I am really but choose to be extrovert during lesson time. Therefore giving them a total different personality and impression. If I give them the impression of introvert, my class mates may felt that I am very hard to communicate with and that they might not want to speak to me anymore.

Thus I prefer to give them the impression that I am very friendly and someone that enjoyed to be with. There it is true that created this impression on purpose. The only time when I show the real me, it must be a time when I am really too stress out and I just couldn’t figure out how to handle the situation then will I show it. I do not like to give my classmates the impression of hostile therefore I must give the impression I am friendly. Creating an impression for my class is as important as communication. When I communicating with strangers and people who are closed, I must create an impression that I am friendly.

In this world you cannot survive if you are hostile, therefore making friends with the created impression will allow me to get closer to communicating well with my friends.
